MFSB Events

Maryland Families For Safe Birth regularly plans fun, family-friendly events across the state to raise awareness of our mission and raise funds to support our activities.

Upcoming MFSB events in 2024 include a Rally in Annapolis in March (watch for date to be announced soon!), and our 4th Annual Baltimore Birth Festival on Sunday, May 19.  This year’s Festival has been extended by one additional hour to allow attendees more time to visit the booths following the raffle!  We hope to see you at both events, and if you are not able to attend the MFSB Rally in person, please watch this page and our Facebook posts for other ways you can reach out to your Maryland legislators about MFSB’s mission, so they understand why informed access to maternity care options is so important to your family.

2023 saw the return of the Annual Baltimore Birth Festival on May 21, and thanks to your efforts in contacting your Maryland legislators in Annapolis on Lobby Day and through your many e-mails, phone calls, and personal visits, our VBAC legislation passed the Maryland House of Delegates nearly unanimously although it eventually stalled in the Senate.  We are gearing up to introduce an updated bill in a future session and we’ll let you know when the time comes to contact your state senators and delegates and voice your support!

MFSB events in 2022 included our very successful 2nd Annual Baltimore Birth Festival on May 15 and the virtual Public Meeting on Sunday, September 18.  Information about opportunities to connect with your Maryland state senators and delegates and let them know how important MFSB’s mission and legislative efforts are to you and your family will be posted as the next legislative session approaches.  Check out the MFSB Event Calendar and the individual event pages for more details on these and other events. We hope you will participate!

Past events have included our popular MFSB Online Auction, Savers FunDrive, open board meetings, annual Lobby Days and rallies in Annapolis, a Miles for Midwives 5K Run and 1 Mile Walk, an Evidence-Based Birth seminar, tabling at birth fairs, community meetings, and more!

There is something for everyone, and there are lots of great opportunities to show your support for MFSB and help raise funds for our lobbying efforts.  If you have energy and ideas for fundraising and would like to get involved in planning MFSB events, please contact us for more information.
